The new line runs three shifts a day, and the first measured results are in. Cycle time fell by a fifth.
What changed on the floor
Three cells were rebuilt around a single pallet pool. The operators kept their programmes; only the fixturing and the tool presetting moved. Nothing about the machines themselves changed.
- One pallet pool, six machines.
- Tool presetting moved off the machine.
- Two operators per shift instead of four.
The numbers
- Cycle time: down 21 %.
- Setup time: down 40 %.
- Scrap rate: unchanged.
We did not buy a single new machine. We bought back the hours between them.
The same cell is available for evaluation — see the TM-0 toolroom mill it is built around, or get in touch to arrange a visit.
